Gregory P. Zengo, MD Medical Director
Dr. Zengo arrived in Georgia in 1988 to attend medical school at Emory. He stayed at Emory and Grady from 1992 through 1996 to complete his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. After spending two years on the faculty at Emory as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Zengo relocated to Northeast Georgia to pursue a private practice in the cities of Royston, Hartwell, and Lavonia. He was first employed by the Ty Cobb Healthcare System and then formed his own private practice, Georgia Women’s Care, PC, in January of 2002.
For many years, Dr. Zengo has studied emerging trends and technologies in non-invasive medical aesthetics and in January of 2003, he founded The Center For Advanced Aesthetics. The clinic was the first of its kind in rural Northeast Georgia to offer light-based skin treatment and hair removal along with Botox and vein treatment. The clinic grew its menu of services steadily over the next two years. In 2005, the name was changed to New Image Medical Aesthetic Center to better represent our commitment to “helping you look and feel great both inside and out”. In late 2005, New Image opened its first office in the Athens area to better serve our patients from Athens who were already commuting to Royston for treatments. Finally, in December of 2005, Dr. Zengo stopped practicing obstetrics to better concentrate on mesotherapy, vein treatment, medical aesthetics, bio-identical hormone counseling and treatment, alternative acne management, and office gynecology.
Its mission since day one has been to provide safe, effective cosmetic services of the highest quality, safety, and effectiveness. Dr. Zengo is always studying the latest advances in the field of non-invasive cosmetic medicine. He is the only physician member of the American College of Phlebology (Vein Treatment) in Northeast Georgia. Dr. Zengo learned the most modern vein treatment techniques at The Vein Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, one of the busiest and most advanced vein treatment centers in the country. He has trained with Jean Carruthers, MD who is the pioneer in the cosmetic use of Botox on the face. His mesotherapy training has included comprehensive lectures, and individual preceptorships with leading Mesotherapists. He has also trained with Dr. Patricia Rittes of Brazil, the world’s leading innovator of the Lipotherapy fat burning technique, and the world’s most experienced clinician and researcher. Finally, he has trained with Dr. Jacques LeCoz of France; the world’s most published authority on general Mesotherapy. Dr. Zengo is one of the few Mesotherapists in the U.S. to offer both traditional Mesotherapy as well as the superior Lipotherapy fat burning technique to his patients. New Image is also the only clinic in the Southeast to offer the combination of Mesotherapy with Dermosonic massage.
“I don’t add a new treatment or service until I have fully researched it and trained with the best. Finally, if I am not convinced of its safety, I will not add the procedure to my practice," says Dr. Zengo. “I also take pride in being knowledgeable of procedures and medications that I do not actively use in my practice. I never recommend any treatment that my patient does not need. If a patient would benefit more from a procedure or technology that I don’t offer, I tell her that. I have turned away many patients who need electrolysis over laser hair removal, face lifts over microdermabrasion and Botox, or liposuction over Mesotherapy.”
“I get involved with my patients. I am available to see everyone individually at their first consultation visit.” Many aesthetic clinics are really run by the aestheticians, while the absentee doctor is simply used as a name. This is not the case at New Image. At these clinics, the doctor is not well-trained in the procedures and cannot offer any help in more advanced cases. At New Image, no procedure is performed unless Dr. Zengo has fully trained in it and feels that the procedure passes the most stringent tests for safety, effectiveness, and value for our patients.
In 2006, Dr. Zengo began a successful physician training program in his offices. He has trained physicians from all over the United States in Mesotherapy, Sclerotherapy, and Natural Hormone Balancing. The popularity of his personalized instruction led him to being hired by Empire Medical Training as their lead instructor for Mesotherapy, Sclerotherapy, and Natural Hormone Balancing. Dr. Zengo will train over 300 physicians in 2007.
Dr. Zengo is available for consultation in our Watkinsville office on Tuesdays and alternating Thursdays and Fridays. He practices in the Royston/Franklin Springs office the remainder of the week.
